I remember seeing a box of Borax in our laundry room when I was a kid, but I never knew what it was used for, and I’ve never actually used it since. After seeing this video, though, I’m going to go out and buy a big box! I had no idea Borax had so many incredible uses!

YouTube star Melissa Maker of CleanMySpace shows the many ways Borax can be used around the house. With these simple methods you can clean everything from your sink to your hairbrush to your unmentionables with almost no effort at all!

One of my favorite uses is to kill bugs in the kitchen. Simply mix equal parts Borax and powdered sugar, sprinkle on a sheet of waxed paper, and slip it under the fridge (or anywhere else that attracts those unwelcome house guests). Leave it there for a day or two. When you pull the sheet out you should find the bugs have succumbed to your homemade pesticide.

Another great use is for cleaning the toilet. It’s so simple, I don’t know why I wasn’t doing this before! All you have to do is sprinkle a cup of Borax in your toilet at night before you go to bed. Let it sit overnight, and in the morning just grab a toilet brush and scrub around the bowl to get it sparkling clean!

In case you’re worried about how safe Borax is to use around the home, Wellness Mama has done some great research into the safety of this handy product. As long as you don’t ingest it, get it in your eyes, or get it undiluted on your skin, you should be fine!
