When the good people at Conway Area Humane Society (CAHS) in New Hampshire found out that a pregnant boxer mix named Mireya (meaning “miracle”) had been taken to a high-kill shelter in Tennessee, they knew they had to act fast. Pregnant dogs cannot be adopted, and they knew that any puppies born at that shelter would not make it out alive.
They quickly stepped in and committed to rescuing Mireya and her puppies, bringing the very pregnant dog up to New Hampshire where they could watch over her.
It was obvious all Mireya really wanted was a little bit of love. She quickly warmed up to the CAHS staff and loved to be pet and cuddled.
Knowing that her time to deliver was coming up quickly, that staff created a little nursery for Mireya where she would be comfortable when the time came. They set up a camera so they could keep an eye on the soon-to-be momma, but the camera captured some other unexpected things as well!

Just a few weeks after Mireya got to CAHS she gave birth to 10 healthy puppies! She immediately went into “mother mode” and proved what a loving and attentive mother she was.
At 10 weeks old the puppies were ready to be adopted, and thankfully each one of them was taken in by a loving family.
Then it was Mireya’s turn. She found someone who would love her and take care of her too! Now she finally has a forever home where she knows she’ll be safe and loved for the rest of her life!
