Mom Aman Da Elle had to make an emergency diaper run to Safeway. She had no expectations that the trip would be anything more than a usual errand, but she was in for a big surprise!
She grabbed the diapers and headed to the register, and as she walked she felt something taped to the bottom of the package. She figured it was a coupon, but when she turned the package over she instead found a sticky note taped to it.
The note read, “From one parent to another. Merry Christmas!”
When Aman peeled back the note she found a $20 bill underneath!
She couldn’t believe it!
“It moved me to tears,” she said. “On my way out of the store, I told the manager what happened, and he said I was about the fifth person to tell him so.”
When Aman’s story was first posted some people thought she was making it all up, but she insists the act of kindness was real.
“It’s true,” she wrote, “and if the person who did this for me sees my message, I just want you to know it couldn’t have come at a better time. I was feeling overwhelmed and overlooked and you made me feel so special and I’ll always be so grateful for it. Merry Christmas!”
And that’s not all! This simple but touching act of kindness has inspired others to go out and do the same.
“Thank you for sharing this, Aman!” Facebook user Aleah Tinnes wrote when she saw the story. “It is encouraging to see random acts of kindness, such as this, make the news. It’s good to know that there are people out there, looking out for others in their community, and I know this has inspired me to do something similar myself…and I’m sure your story has inspired others, as well!
