In tragic news, Brazilian model Caroline Bittencourt heroically lept into action when her dogs fell off her sailboat. Unfortunately, she died while trying to save her puppies.
The deadly accident took place on Sunday in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where Caroline was on a catamaran with her husband, Jorge Sestini, and their two dogs.
While out at sea, a massive storm with winds reportedly over 60 mph rocked the boat, knocking the dogs off the catamaran and into the turbulent water.
Bittencourt jumped in after the dogs, and her husband followed, but he could find her.
It’s unclear if the dogs were ever recovered.
A few hours later Sestini was rescued, and Bittencourt’s body was found late Monday near a beach.
Bittencourt’s 17-year-old daughter, Isabelle, confirmed her mom’s death on social media saying:
“We are grateful for the support and affectionate messages we have received from Carol’s friends and fans. This energy drive fills our hearts with so much love.”
Strangely, Bittencourt has become the second model to die in Brazil in less than a week. A few days ago Tales Soares died after collapsing on a catwalk over the weekend during Sao Paulo Fashion Week.
Our prayers go out to her family and friends, may her noble soul rest in peace.
