Many lost dogs are discovered on the street by caring humans. Some are so frightened they run away from those seeking to help them. One pit bull from Walnut Creek, California took the initiative and sought out someone to help return her to her family.

Not just anyone would do for this precious girl; she jumped into the parked police patrol vehicle of Walnut Creek Police Officer Akers.

The department wrote on social media: “Tonight at around 5:45 p.m., this little girl knew she was in trouble and took it upon herself to jump into one of our parked patrol cars and let Officer Akers know she was lost.”

Officer Akers knew how to assist his surprise sweet-natured passenger. He figured her family would search for her at the Contra Costa Animal Services. “She fell asleep in Officer Akers’ lap and napped the entire ride to Contra Costa Animal Services,” the police department wrote, adding: “She is well trained, can sit, stay and lay down.”

She’s also thankful. She gave the kind officer a kiss on his cheek for his efforts in trying to locate her owners. The pit is healthy, but she’s without a microchip. The animal shelter has turned to social media to aid them in finding her family. If they aren’t located in a week, she’ll be put up for adoption.

UPDATE: QUINN HAS BEEN REUNITED WITH HER FAMILY! Thank you for everyone’s efforts in bringing her home!UPDATE: No one…
