Five brothers came together to make sure their sister, Kaley West Young knew they would always be there for her at her wedding reception in Utah on September 22. Their father Dave had passed away unexpectedly in March 2015 due to heart disease. Realizing that he would be missing from the traditional father-daughter dance at her ceremony, they planned a way they could still let his voice be there for her at that moment.

Dave Young liked to make home movies, and his sons decided they would go through all of them to find just the right clips. They would intersperse special moments shared between father and daughter with the perfect song. That way, Kaley would get a special and memorable surprise from Dad on her wedding day.

They chose Michael Bolton’s song, “Fathers & Daughters,” a song with lyrics that couldn’t be more perfect.

Like moonlight on the water, and sunlight in the sky
Fathers and daughters never say goodbye
An Angel I will read to sleep, gave me one dream of my own
So learn to love and spread your wings, and find the one to call your home

As the music played, Kevin, Dustin, Danny, Derek, and Kasey stepped up to take turns dancing with their sister. They wanted her to know that even though their dad was gone, they would always be there for her.

Then she heard her father’s voice come across the speaker and had what she described as a sort of “out-of-body experience.”

“The moment I heard my Dad’s voice, I was completely overwhelmed with emotion. You see I was struggling to even stand,” recalled Kaley.

In an interview with WJLA, the bride described the incredible feeling that overcame her.

“I was completely in shock. I know people joke about having an out-of-body experience but that is what it truly was being in the middle of the ballroom and surrounded by my family, and my husband’s family, and our friends and people we care about with my brothers stepping up,” Young said in a phone conversation from her honeymoon in Italy. “It was an incredible moment.”

Her brother recalled she had mentioned feeling her father’s presence very strongly at that exact moment.

“She mentioned right when she heard that voice, she kind of felt almost like a hug from behind,” he said.

The emotional moment affected everyone at the wedding.

“You just could not help but feel touched by what was happening,” Kaley’s brother Dustin told USA Today. “Really not a dry eye in the crowd.”

To top it all off, singer and songwriter Michael Bolton saw the video himself, and reached out to Kaley and her husband Andy on social media.

Kaley Young responded to Bolton’s remarks:

“That blew me away,” Young said. “I was in complete disbelief that he saw (the video), and it’s very touching for him to even respond. It was very kind of him and it made that moment even more special.”

Now the new bride wants the video to remind everyone who faces loss, sorrow, and despair to know:

You are never alone and you are loved.

“This video isn’t about me or my family; it’s about the most important thing in life which is our loved ones,” she said. “Every single person experiences loss, or will experience loss, in those moments can be deep sorrow and despair. However, I want it to be a reminder that you are never alone. Love transcends beyond the physical body and whoever is going through a great loss, no matter what it may be, you are never alone and you are loved.”
