“If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” is one of my most favorite childhood books. It is a cute little story about a spoiled mouse who is a bit difficult to satisfy. Once he receives one thing, he insists on needing another. Then when he gets that, it is still somehow incomplete until he has something else.

It’s very entertaining because just when you think he is all set, he puts in yet another request. If this were a true story, I can only imagine how annoyed the person feeding him would have been.

One question: What happens when you give a deer a peanut butter bar? Stay tuned. You will find out soon!

Lori Jones is a convenience store employee in Stout, Colorado. As she was working her regular shift one winter evening, a mother deer walked right into the shop. Lori was able to capture several pictures of it.

“She was looking at the sunglasses and the chips,” Jones, of the Horsetooth Inn and RV Park, according to Sunny Skyz, told 9News. “I was laughing so hard.”

After taking her photos, Lori bribed the deer out of the store using a peanut butter bar.

“That took care of her!” I’m sure she thought as she went back to checking the store’s stock.

Boy, was she wrong!

Thirty minutes later, the mother deer came strolling right back into the store, and when Lori looked up, she was not alone!

Standing in the shop’s doorway were three of the deer’s family members, waiting for some of the sweet treat that the first one received.

“It was so funny!” Lori expressed.

I’m laughing just thinking about how the interaction must have went between the mother deer and her tribe as she led them to the source of the snack.

Whatever it was, they were sold – and it is the funniest thing ever.

Remember that question I asked you earlier?

What happens when you give a deer a peanut butter bar? Well, the answer is: She is sure to come back with her family for more!

I hope you enjoyed this story and these photos as much as I did. If so, please share!
