They may say that man is a dog’s best friend but that’s not the case for two close-knit canine’s in Washington.

Six months before Hisho, an American Eskimo dog, was scheduled to have an eye-operation, his parents rescued Zen, a tiny Pomeranian, and the pair became fast friends.

Once Hisho underwent his surgery, leaving him blind, Zen’s role in his life blossomed into what might just be the most inspiring and heartwarming furry friendship we’ve seen. And lucky for us, they share all of their picturesque adventures together on their paw-sitively adorable Instagram page (Prepare for your heart go into overdrive).

The account, run by the duo’s owners, gives a vivid peak into what daily life is like for Hisho as a blind dog, and the many ways in which Zen serves as much more than just a physical guide, but also as a constant source of healthy companionship, love, and comfort.

An open letter to @dogsthathike ? Dear @dogsthathike, My name is Hoshi and I am an active blind dog. My guiding light is Zen. We rescued him from a local shelter about 6 months before my surgery. He was with me throughout my journey to recovery and he continues to play a big role in my life. Together we love to explore the great outdoors. While I may not be able to see, I can still feel the trail under my paws, the wind around my fur, and Zen’s leading tug on my harness. When we stop to take pictures, I know we reached something beautiful. I think we would be a pawsome #trailtester because we love going on adventures! We strive to live an unforgettable, adventurous life. We may be senior dogs but we’re still pups at ❤️. As the great Muhammad Ali said, “Don’t count the days…make the days count.” This is our entry to become @dogsthathike #trailtester. ?
