What started out as a normal trip to the grocery store soon turned into a nightmare for mom Amanda Cropsey Florczykowski. She wrote about her experience in a Facebook post to help other parents learn the warning signs of a potentially dangerous situation.

“I’m convinced that our two-year-old daughter was the victim of a potential sex-trafficking scam yesterday,” she wrote, going on to tell the story of how a couple came up to her and her 2-year-old daughter when they were in line to check out at the grocery store and things quickly took a chilling turn.

“The couple ahead struck up the typical conversation about how ‘cute your daughter is’ and then asked about her age, repeatedly,” she said. At first she thought it was their language barrier that was leading to all of their questions, but she quickly grew uncomfortable with the whole situation.

Amanda wrote about how the woman asked to hold her daughter and then resisted when she tried to get her back. Then she heard the woman say four words that sent chills up her spine:

“Say bye to mommy.”

If that wasn’t chilling enough, Amanda also noticed a man watching the whole scene who she is convinced was in on the sinister plan.

Thankfully, Amanda was alert and got her daughter back and the couple eventually left her alone. Now, though, she wants others to know her story so they can be vigilant about potential abductors. She gave some specific examples in her post of what parents should look out for and how they can protect their children.

Amanda ended her post with a Bible verse – 2 Timothy 1:7: “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

Parents should not let fear get the best of them, but should make sure they are well-informed so they and their children can be safe.
