Parenthood can be a scary thing, especially when you have to face something you aren’t expecting. Some can quickly adjust and prepare for this obstacle, while others may struggle with it.

When 36-year-old Christina Fisher found out she was pregnant again, she definitely wasn’t ready for baby number two.

The thing is, Christina had already raised one child, who is now 18 years old, when she found out she was expecting another child as a single mother. She knew she wasn’t ready to do it all over again, so she decided that setting up an adoption plan would be the best idea.

Before the baby was born she was placed with an adoptive family. Everything was taken care of, but then the unexpected happened.

Christina delivered baby Abigail in January, but when she did the adoptive mother reportedly left the hospital crying and never came back. But why?

When Abigail was born, she didn’t look like a normal baby. That’s because she was born with Treacher Collins Syndrome. This condition affects facial structure, as some of the bones and tissues in the child’s face don’t develop properly. This can often be shown in ultrasounds, but in Abigail’s case it was a complete surprise when she was born.

Since the adoptive mother no longer wanted Abigail, Christina decided she would keep her baby and raise her after all.

Her outlook on having another baby has changed completely. “I can no longer see my life without either one of my daughters,” she said.
