It’s unknown how her spine got crushed, but it was clear that she was abandoned.

After being abandoned, Poppy had no choice but to drag herself for miles in search of help.

Her rescuers who spotted her were at a loss for words when Poppy made her slow and painful approach to them.

Susanne Vogel, who works in Botswana at the elephant research camp, was one of the people who spotted her.

“She came crawling — literally crawling…” said Vogel.

“The camp is in a remote region, filled with elephants, but also lions, hyenas and other predators,” she told LifeBuzz.

They rushed her to the vet, where the vet told them that Poppy would need a serious spine operation.

“She already has so many people [eager] to see a happy outcome, namely adoption into a loving family.”

The surgery will help Poppy to hopefully regain her ability to walk, or perhaps have wheels to help ease her plight.

This pup has such a beautiful face and wonderful nature–she knew she needed help and managed to reach exactly the right place!
