Frances Gillett has been defying the odds since her birth. The UK woman with Down syndrome was born in 1941 and has battled tuberculosis and breast cancer in her life, but on Sunday she celebrated her 75th birthday, making her the oldest woman in the world with Down syndrome!

Reaching that age would be a big deal for someone born today with Down syndrome, as life expectancy is around 60 years old, but Frances was born at a time when her life expectancy was estimated to be much lower, making this milestone extra special.

She celebrated her birthday with lots of friends, and Wayne Bent, the co-owner of the care home in which Frances resides, said it was “an absolutely fantastic day” and that Frances had “a wonderful time.”
