With the overwhelming number of animals dropped off, abandoned, seized, or found, shelters are overcrowded. There are more animals needing homes than there is space to contain them. Sadly, many are euthanized. Thankfully, one dog was saved from the killing chamber and adopted just in time.

Zac Efron is the lucky dog dad! He first fostered then adopted MACA then named Tilly. The Greatest Showman actor introduced his pooch BFF to the world through Instagram. “Hey planet ?, this is MACA. #adoptdontshop,”  the 30-year-old star wrote along with a photo of him lounging with MACA.

On this day 29 years ago, the heavens opened up and gave us Zac Efron.

Bark n’ Bitches Dog Boutique, the L.A.-based humane dog shop saved the pooch from certain death. They wrote on social media. Tilly now MACA was being led to the kill room when we stepped in and said we would take her. She was turned around and brought to us! This guy named Zac Efron came in (we hear he is an actor, but we think he actually waits tables) came in and fell in love. He went through our application process and fostered MACA and just could not give her back. So MACA now lives with Zac! This is her happily ever after! Happy life MACA! Happy Life.”

Efron is just one of many celebs rescuing dogs. Meghan Markle once adopted two pooches. Before her relationship with Prince Harry went public, she posted photos on her social media of her and her pups cruising around Toronto.

Koodos to everyone who chooses to take in a rescue dog. They need love just as much as a dog sold by a breeder. You must dedicate the same amount of time, effort, care and love to them as you would all other animals. Some of these rescue dogs come from terrible situations like abuse or neglect. So some may need even more snuggles and cuddles.
