Robert Griffin and his wife, Falon, made an unplanned pit stop at a local Chick-fil-A. They were on their way to San Antonio, Texas University Hospital on Tuesday so Falon could have their third child. While they were driving to the hospital, she started having contractions.

They weren’t going to make it to their original destination. They had to stop at the fast food joint so a friend could take their two older children. Falon ended up having her baby in the Chick-fil-A bathroom.

“Last night I delivered our baby girl IN THE BATHROOM AT A CHICK-FIL-A!” Robert Griffin proudly proclaimed on Wednesday when he posted the joyous news in a Facebook post that has since received over 200,000 views.

They arrived at the restaurant at 10 p.m. when it was closed. Fallon and Robert had to bang on the windows to get the attention of the staff. Robert said in the post that he waved goodbye to his two daughters only to have the manager inform him that Fallon was screaming in the bathroom. She was giving birth.

“I can see just the top of Gracelyn’s head, just barely crowning, but I knew we couldn’t go anywhere. So I told her, ‘Sweetie, we’re gonna do something great, and we’re gonna do it right here and we’re gonna do it right now,’ ” Robert told KENS-TV.

“I couldn’t control it,” his wife added. “I was basically [straddling] the toilet — I wasn’t even sitting down. I was literally standing giving birth, with one hand on the wall and one hand holding her head.”

There was a frightening moment when Robert wrote that the umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck twice. Being the wonderful husband he is, he didn’t want to worry Falon.

He “told her to relax for a minute and I was somehow able to unwrap the chord [sic] from the baby’s neck.”

“With two more strong pushes, and using my shirt for a towel, out came Gracelyn Mae Violet Griffin,” he wrote, adding that “paramedics arrived 15 minutes later” and that “everyone’s healthy.”

Continuing, the proud papa wrote, “Her birth certificate reads ‘Born in Chick-Fil-A’ and the hospital had me sign the birth certificate as the attending physician. ?”

Ironically enough, ahead of Gracelyn’s birth, her parents actually purchased a Chick-fil-A onesie reading “Little Nugget” on it for their tiny new addition. And, in honor of the unexpected delivery, Chick-fil-A has granted Gracelyn food for life; the restaurant also guaranteed her a job as soon as she turns sixteen.

I have to say, what a great way to enter the world! A job to look forward to and free food. Congratulations to Robert, Falon and their beautiful family.
