A photographer in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Megan Rion has specialized in creating dreamlike portraits of newborns and children for over a decade. Imagine That Photography captures the sense of the magic and wonderment of childhood. Often the pictures look like they came right out of a fairytale. Then in October 2015, while photographing a one-month-old baby named Conner, something magic really did happen.

The baby was fast asleep dreaming on a bale of hay. Rion carefully placed pumpkins, gourds, and fall leaves around the baby on the ground. Soft light filtered in through the woods in the background. Everything looked perfect for the fall picture, and then as if by magic, a doe walked out of the forest and approached the baby.

The photographer knew it was a rare moment and snapped the pictures in disbelief, keeping a careful watch on the baby. The deer posed no danger for the child, and the images seemed like they came straight out of a real-life Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

The impromptu guest appearance by the doe created a lot of excitement online. After all, who wouldn’t want to capture the ultimate photobomb moment like this on film?

Our day with Maggie and baby Conner yesterday 🙂

Connor’s mother, Tiffany Gill Rogers was thrilled with the photographs. She humorously remarked:

“I can almost guarantee his two-month pictures will be disappointing compared to this,” Rogers said.

While Rion captured the photos, Rogers caught the whole thing on video:

Following the magical moment, everyone wanted pictures with the gentle woodland creature. Fortunately, it appears the deer became quite tame and even used to the idea. In their Facebook portfolio of stunning images, we see the deer visiting many lucky kids.

Of course, it’s hard to tell if some of the creatures that appear are real or magic. Who are we to break the spell? The images are really beautiful and magical.
