Christmas is such a magical time, especially for children. Not only does the world come alight with thousands of twinkling Christmas lights, but there is the promise and anticipation of Santa and his reindeer coming for a visit.
It is hard for many adults to remember the joy and wonder that Santa could bring, but for many children that excitement is fresh, and the chance to meet the jolly bearded man seems like the most exciting thing ever.
When this little girl saw a bearded police officer sitting at a nearby table when she was out to eat with her parents, she was convinced the man was Santa. She rushed over to meet him and tell him what she wanted for Christmas.
Thankfully this man wasn’t a grinch and he played right along!
His police department posted a picture of the sweet encounter on their Facebook page.
“When a three year old comes up to you during dinner and thinks you are Santa Claus you roll with it,” they wrote. “This beautiful young lady would like a princess Barbie for Christmas. She also now believes Santa is a policeman between Christmases. Wonderful encounter.”
We’re sure every time this little girl sees a police car driving by she’ll be checking to see if it contains off-duty Santa! What a sweet encounter and a special memory for this girl and her parents!
