High school senior Micah McDade has cerebral palsy and has been confined to a wheelchair his entire life. However, knowing that graduation was coming up, McDade decided he wanted to do something many would think impossible – he wanted to walk across the stage to receive his diploma.

The teen worked for months to strengthen his muscles enough so he could achieve this enormous feat. On the night of his graduation, when it came time for him to receive his diploma, McDade was wheeled up to the stage. Once there, though, to the shock of everyone in attendance, he stood up and, with the help of a walker, made his way across the stage to accept his diploma.

After a brief moment of stunned silence, the entire stadium erupted in screams and applause and McDade received a standing ovation from his entire senior class.

The moment was truly a special one, not just for McDade, but for everyone in attendance. “Ladies and gentlemen,” said the announcer, “I’ve been doing this a long time. That is the best ever!”
