Dead dad sends flowers every year on daughter’s birthday. Then one year, final note delivered

Nothing in life can prepare us for the loss of a loved one, quite the opposite, we have to experience it to have a true understanding of the process. Yet, for some, this event can carry less of a burden with the right amount of planning.

When Bailey Sellers of Knoxville, Tennessee, was 16-years old, her father passed away from pancreatic cancer. Knowing this time would be difficult for his daughter, the doting dad decided to do something special to help her celebrate her upcoming milestones.

With his death looming in the near future, Bailey’s dad wanted to remind her that although he wouldn’t be there in person to see her grow up, he wasn’t entirely absent from her life. He accomplished this tender task by pre-paying for a bouquet of flowers on each of her birthdays.

On Friday, Nov. 24, Bailey would turn 21-years old. This important event also marked the end of her loving father’s gifts. That afternoon she typed a bittersweet tweet that went viral unexpectedly. “My dad passed away when I was 16 from cancer and before he died he pre payed flowers so i could receive them every year on my birthday. Well this is my 21st birthday flowers and the last. Miss you so much daddy.”

To date, her post has been liked by 1.5 million and shared 381K times over. For many, this was an undeniable sign that her father is still watching over his little girl from a most special place.

In addition to the lovely bouquet, Bailey’s dad also included a handwritten card. “This is my last love letter to you until we meet again,” he wrote, according to the New York Post. “I do not want you to shed another tear for me my baby girl for I am in a better place.”

“Be happy and live life to the fullest,” he also said. “I will still be with you through every milestone, just look around and there I will be.”

Thanks to her sweet father’s foresight, Bailey can move forward as a full-fledged adult knowing that her dad is never too far away. She acknowledged that he had always enjoyed “trying to make my birthday spectacular.”

And this was no exception. Her heartwarming tweet managed to touch the hearts of many who agreed that this was her father’s way of nudging her on as she prepares to carve her own path in life. “He believes that you are capable of wondrous things,” one person commented. “He believes YOU are ready to be without the flowers even if you don’t know it yet.”
