Actor Chris Pratt may be known for his roles in blockbuster films like “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Jurassic Park,” but there is something else the actor has become known for as well – his Christian faith.

The actor has stated that his faith was really restored several years ago when his son, Jack, was born nine weeks premature. Chris and his wife, actress Anna Faris, had to rely on God to get them through that difficult time.

“We were scared for a long time,” he said of those difficult months after their son was born. “We prayed a lot.”

It was during those painful days that Chris renewed his relationship with God.

“It restored my faith in God,” he said, “not that it needed to be restored, but it really redefined it.”

Since then the actor has not been shy about sharing his faith with his many fans, and his recent Instagram post is no exception.

Chris’ brother, Cully Pratt, is an Army veteran who is also a skilled wood worker. Chris had asked Cully to make him a “dump tray” for his keys, wallet, pistol, and other items, and originally had one idea in mind for how he wanted it to look. After thinking about it, though, he decided to take it in a different direction.

When he first asked Cully about the tray he said he wanted it to be the “usual Chris” – an “American bald eagle smoking a cigar, holding a machine gun and an American flag whirling all bad ass in the wind maybe with some nunchucks or something.”

Then he started to think more about it and changed his mind.

“I thought a lot about being homesick,” he said. “I’d like having a touchstone that I could take with me as I travel on the road for work.”

That’s when he decided to ask Cully to put a Bible verse he has relied on for strength on the tray instead. When Cully finished the tray Chris couldn’t wait to share it with his followers on Instagram.

So my brother, @cullypratt makes these awesome pocket dump trays. We all need a place to throw our wallets, keys, cell-phones, lighters, pistols or whatever else we keep in your pocket so you know exactly where it is the next day. Well he wanted to make me one and asked me what I wanted on it. I went for the usual chris answer, American bald eagle smoking a cigar, holding a machine gun and an American flag whirling all bad ass in the wind maybe with some nunchucks or something. But then I thought a lot about being homesick. I’d like having a touchstone that I could take with me as I travel on the road for work. Something less straight up bad ass hero and more homesick in need of comfort. So I though about this great bible verse Philippians 4:13 which I’ve relied on for strength from time to time. And he knocks this thing out in like a day!! Reclaimed wood and a wood burner. All by hand. He does all kinds of awesome art stuff and in proud of him. He’s so awesome and you should follow him. He’s a unique individual and my best friend. An army veteran and a sheriffs deputy who has seen a lot of shit in his life but gets up everyday to go to work and help people having bad days cause he’s a real hero. A hero who loves to make something out of nothing with his bare hands. He’s very good and when we were kids he used to make me smell his finger and I always fell for it and I wore his clothes and worshiped him and I still do to this day. Thanks to my big brother from the same mother for my awesome #cullypepper dump tray. It’s my favorite thing I have.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” the words from Philippians 4:13 read. Next to the verse is an etching of Jesus.

“It’s my favorite thing I have,” Chris wrote.

You can tell the two brothers are very close and Chris is very proud of his brother. While the actor may play heroes on film, his brother, he says, is the real hero.

“He does all kinds of awesome art stuff and in proud of him,” Chris wrote. “He’s so awesome and you should follow him. He’s a unique individual and my best friend. An army veteran and a sheriffs deputy who has seen a lot of shit in his life but gets up everyday to go to work and help people having bad days cause he’s a real hero. A hero who loves to make something out of nothing with his bare hands.”

Now Chris has a special keepsake that will remind him of his brother, as well as his Savior.
