Singer Céline Dion has had her share of heartbreak over the past year. She first lost her husband, René Angélil, to throat cancer in January, and then one week later lost her brother, Daniel Dion, to brain, throat, and tongue cancer.

Through it all she has remained strong, and even managed to find the silver lining in the midst of tragedy. “René escorted my brother,” she said. “It was perfect.” She said she’s actually glad her husband went first, because she wonders, if Daniel had passed first and she had gone to his funeral, “What happens to my children if my husband passes away while I’m gone?”

While the singer has remained mostly silent since her husband and brothers’ passings, she recently opened up to ABC News’ Deborah Roberts on her final moments with her husband. Her last words to him reveal the strength this woman has and the grace she has displayed in the face of heartbreak.

“I want you to just go in peace,” she told him. “I want you to not worry. You are worrying for my career, you are worrying for the children, you are worrying for everything. It’s enough. Do you trust me? Please do.”

She assured him that she and their children would be okay, and then told him, “Please leave in peace. I don’t want you to worry.”
