The range and beauty of creatures on this earth is absolutely astounding. From as tiny as a pin head to as large as a school bus, our planet is filled with diverse animals, many of which have yet to be discovered!

While of course there are varying opinions on which animals are the “best,” it is pretty universally agreed upon that horses are some of the most beautiful and majestic creatures in existence.

Their beautiful coats and manes, their muscular bodies, the way they prance and leap – they are absolutely incredible to watch.

But even in the horse world there is a lot of diversity, and we have stumbled upon a rare breed of horse that is different than any other kind of horse we’ve ever seen!

They are absolutely stunning! In fact, they’ve been named “the most beautiful horse in the world.”

These horses are called Akhal-Teke horses. They are native to Turkmenistan and prized for their sleek, metallic-looking coats.

The horses are so beautiful they almost don’t even look real!

Nicknamed “golden horses” or “horses from heaven,” these horses were originally bred to survive in extreme weather conditions and are known for their intelligence, endurance, and speed.

Their lustrous coats are a result of special hair follicles that are unique to this breed. While the core of each hair strand is opaque in other horse breeds, Akhal-Teke horses have a larger transparent portion that captures the light and makes their coats gleam.

These horses are quite rare. There are only about 6,600 in existence, the majority of which are in Turkmenistan and Russia. In fact, they are so rare and so prized that the government of Turkmenistan sometimes gives these animals to other countries as diplomatic gifts.

These majestic creatures are truly a sight to behold!
