Most girls, especially those in relationships, dream about the moment their boyfriend will get down on one knee and ask her to be his wife. Sometimes, when those proposals come, they aren’t quite like the girl was expecting. Sometimes the actual proposal far exceeds anything she could have ever dreamed!
This sweet story is definitely one of those times. It was shared on the Sentinel, Oklahoma-based Lace Cakes’ Facebook page as part of a contest to get a free cake. Needless to say, this one took the cake!
The girl shared that she had just graduated from nursing school and her boyfriend had been promising her a special gift to celebrate how proud he was of her. Curious, she kept guessing what the present might be, but he refused to give in and tell her.
Finally, though, she wore him down enough that he decided he couldn’t keep the secret any longer. He pulled a box out from behind his back and handed it to her.
Inside the box was a Bible. She looked at the front cover, and that’s when she noticed something that took her by surprise.
Embossed in gold letters on the front of the Bible was her first name, but next to it was her boyfriend’s last name.
Confused she looked up at him, and that’s when he told her to open the Bible up. He had bookmarked a section and highlighted just one passage from the book of Mark:
And Jesus answered and said to them, “Because of the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. But from the beginning of the creation, God ‘made them male and female.‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no man separate.
Tied to the bookmark was a ring.
Realizing what was happening she looked up at her boyfriend who then told her, “You are the answer to all of my prayers, will you please be my wife?”
Of course she said yes!
The sweet post won the contest hands down, receiving hundreds more votes than any of the other entries! People just could not get enough of the beautiful proposal.
