When we have had the ability to do something for our whole lives, it’s easy to take it for granted. It’s only when we lose that ability, or meet someone who doesn’t have it, that we realize what a gift it truly is.
Our hearing is one of those gifts. Those of us who have never had problems with our hearing take for granted the sound of a bird’s song or the melody of a symphony. And even more precious are the voices of our loved ones.
This sweet boy wasn’t able to hear well when he was born. He never knew the sound of his mother’s voice.
But thanks to some new hearing aids, he is about to be able to connect with the world around him in a way he’s never known.
When his mom first starts talking to him you can see that he is a little confused, and maybe even a little frightened, as he tries to figure out what is going on.
As soon as he realizes he’s hearing his mother’s voice, though, his reaction is enough to melt the coldest heart.
