Reshma Bano Qureshi’s confidence was infectious while she walked the ramp in New York Fashion Week on Thursday. The 19-year-old Indian acid attack survivor looked every bit as beautiful as any other supermodel.

Reshma, who had never left India before, looked exuberant as she opened FTL Moda’s runway show. Dressed in a long-sleeved white gown with colourful panels designed by Archana Kochhar, she looked nothing less than a princess by topping her ensemble with a tiara.

It was two years ago when Reshma was viciously attacked by her brother-in-law and his comrades. The attack, that left her face partially disfigured, didn’t stop Reshma from advocating for other survivors. She associated herself with the Make Love Not Scars initiative to protest against the unbridled sale of acids in drug stores.
